We’ve created the Akerworks Drop Spindle Starter Kit to offer you all the tools, materials, instruction, and inspiration you’ll need to create your first skein of glorious handspun. There’s nothing as satisfying as knitting or crocheting with yarn you’ve spun on a drop spindle. We’re so excited you’re embarking on that journey, and we look forward to being there right alongside you as you learn.
Your Starter Kit includes one Medium Geranium Whorl (specify color when ordering), two 10" Spindle Shafts with Hook Protectors, one 12" Spindle Shaft with Hook Protector, four TensiTamers, two 2 oz. balls of spinning fiber, and one Cardboard Box (your DIY Spindle Kate).
The included fiber is luscious Bluefaced Leicester (aka BFL) wool top from the great folks at Laughing Lamb Fiber out in Nebraska. BFL is widely considered to be the best fiber with which to learn to spin, with its balance of long fiber (for ease of spinning) with soft feel and good luster.
The Kit also includes instructions and links to detailed video guidance.
